Two
Pillows

‘Two Pillows’ is a work about two people who belong together. Two different individuals each involved in a continuous search to sleep together but due to circumstances are unable to find the perfect harmony they are longing for. In his drawings, Kim De Ruysscher mainly works according to the architecture of the bed, in which the edge of the bed is a disturbing factor. This is as it were the exploration of a boundary in a physical and metaphysical form. The sleep or rest becomes impossible in the experience of reality and will. Each pillow is made of different sorts of marble, named Callacata and Statuario. The folds are individually worked out and in the light of philosophical ideas on the ‘trail’; Heidegger’s ideas are encountered. What may or may not be each individual’s turbulent physical perception of the environment is hereby legible as a print or a photo.
